Azucena Vieites García

Artist and associate professor in the Faculties of Fine Arts of the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Salamanca. She has a PhD in Research in Humanities, Arts and Education (UCLM). Her doctoral thesis is titled: Low-fi artistic practices. An approach to the Basque context (1985-2005). She has exhibited in numerous galleries, art centers or museums, highlighting her participation in the 11th edition of the Berlin Biennale (2020). Among her individual exhibitions are: Rehacer Break Out of Your Shell, IVAM (Valencia, 2021); Playing Across Papers, room Alcalá 31 (Madrid, 2020-2021); Hey Baby !, Box 27 (Palma, 2018); Woolen Body, Carreras Múgica gallery (Bilbao, 2015); Tableau Vivant Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, 2013) or Cast in chains. MUSAC (León, 2012). She co-founded Erreakzioa in 1994, a collaborative work initiative between artistic practice and feminist thought. Due to her pioneering nature, she points out the edition of ten fanzines (1995-2000) and the direction of seminars and workshops for Arteleku (Donostia-San Sebastián).
